The current agreement expires on 17 May 2017 and the new contract has updated terms and conditions. These include

  • a review of the fees physios receive for treating Bupa customers
  • an extended deadline for physios to submit invoices
  • a requirement for physios to collect and share quality information

CSP professional adviser Pip White said the Society had been in discussion with Bupa over the past year about its re-recognition process.

She told Frontline: ‘We understand that deciding to re-register as a Bupa provider is an individual decision for each physiotherapy provider and members are not obliged to re-register if the terms do not suit their business model or planning.

‘Where members do choose to re-register, the requirement to collect and share data of service quality can help members show they continue to meet a number of Health and Care Professions Council registration requirements. This may be helpful to members, as the next HCPC re-registration window in 2018 will fall within this new Bupa contract term.’
