The CSP is urging NHS England (NHSE) to engage staff and stakeholders in discussions about workforce changes.
Yesterday (7 July 2022) NHSE announced plans to cut headcount by at least 30 per cent. The CSP is concerned about the potential loss of support for key programmes of service redesign and on the impact on CSP member working in arms length bodies.
Commenting on the plan, CSP employment relations director Claire Sullivan said, 'Any proposals to consolidate arms length bodies must be developed with the involvement of both affected staff and other stakeholders.
'NHSE and HEE are managing important programmes of work around the AHP workforce, rehab and MSK health. Cuts at the level suggested will inevitably affect major work programmes as well as causing enormous anxiety to staff, who have given their all over the last two and a half years.'
CSP members working in arm's length bodies who have concerns should contact the CSP by emailing enquiries@csp.org.uk.
